Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and is a province in itself. It is
roughly the same size as Singapore. Phuket itself is a beautiful island with
many superb and world renowned beaches, rocky capes, mountains and forested
hills as well as lush farmlands incorporating crops such as rubber,
pineapple and tapioca destinations. In 2006 five million people visited this
tropical holiday paradise, 860 km south of Bangkok. If you are flying to
Phuket from Bangkok it takes just over one hour.
Our top 6 attractions include:
Koh Kai Island - a chance to escape to a beautiful white sand beach with
clear blue waters and a stunning coral reef stretching across the bay.
Golf at Laguna Phuket Golf Club. Cradled within a mountain range and
offering wide views of the Andaman Sea. Th 18 hole Laguna Phuket offers a
fascinating challenge to golfers especially its par 3, 11th hole.
Chalong Temple, the largest temple in Phuket.
The beaches - probably the best in Thailand.
Phi Phi Island (where The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed) and
Phang-Nga Bay with limestone cliffs in abundance.
Similand Islands, one of ten world top diving sites and perfect for
snorkeling.
Patong Town is the tourist capital of Phuket. Shop in the world class
Central Festival shopping center. Central Festival is located in the area of
Big C and Lotus outside of Phuket City. Bangla Road, the heart and soul of
Patong Town, is a mixture of small bar's, restaurants, guesthouses, street
stalls and entertainment venues. Typical of Thailands contrasting styles,
Phuket also has numerous exclusive restaurants where dinner for two can set
you back 100-200 US dollars plus. After all this is where many wealthy
people reside who see Phuket as the ultimate destination in Thailand.
Property in Phuket has been popular for some time and so prices are not
generally cheap. The top end condos and villas are often priced for the
overseas market and 600-900,000 US dollars is not an unusual price to pay
for a villa or condo here (more the closer you get to the beach). There are
of course many townhouses and cheaper units away from the coastal areas but
the island does carry a premium compared to say Pattaya. Phuket has now
fully recovered from the Tsunami and is back as the foremost tourist and
life-style destination of Thailand. The East coast is starting to grow in
popularity because although it does not have the excellent 'wild' beaches of
the west coast (this is an attraction for some) it offers peace and
tranquillity and a more traditional Thai experience plus it has direct
access to Phang-Nga Bay by boat. Please contact us for more on this
